List49 (“we,” “us“) respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and how we protect it — in plain language, not legal filler. The short version
We collect only what we need to run List49 well, and we never sell or share your personal information with advertisers or data brokers. Period.
What We Collect
- Account information: name, email, and basic profile details you provide when you register.
- Listing content: whatever you choose to post — titles, descriptions, photos, prices, location.
- Location data: your general location (province/city), and, only if you choose to use features like “Near Me,” a more precise location from your device. This is used solely to show you relevant local listings and is never used for any other purpose.
- Usage data: basic activity like pages viewed, listings you interact with, and search activity, used to keep the site working well and improve the experience.
- Payment information: if you subscribe to a paid plan, payment is processed directly and securely by Stripe, our payment provider. List49 never sees or stores your full card number.
- Messages: content you send through our messaging system, so we can deliver it and help resolve disputes if something goes wrong.
Why We Collect It
We use your information to:
- Operate your account and display your listings
- Show you relevant, local results (province and city-level filtering)
- Process payments for paid plans and add-ons
- Communicate with you about your account, listings, or messages
- Keep the Platform safe — detecting fraud, scams, and policy violations
- Improve List49 based on how it’s actually used
What We Don’t Do
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We do not share your personal information with advertisers.
- We do not use your location or activity data for anything beyond the features described above.
We only share information with trusted service providers who help us run List49 (like Stripe for payments, and our hosting provider) — and only to the extent needed for them to do that job, under confidentiality obligations. We may also disclose information if required by Canadian law or a valid legal request.
Your Rights
Under PIPEDA, you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate information
- Request deletion of your account and associated data (subject to reasonable retention needs, such as records required for tax or dispute purposes)

Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active, and for a reasonable period afterward to comply with legal, tax, and dispute-resolution obligations. You can request account deletion at any time.

Children’s Privacy
